As
well as its work with the UNU World Network of Research
Centres and Programmes through the UNU-PREP, the CPP also
developing a large-scale research project, in partnership
with the Brazilian Ministry of Science and Technology, on
cattle farming, fisheries and alternative economic activities
in the Pantanal.
Through this programme, research and training is carried
out in several different areas such as ecology, economics,
engineering, law and administration among others, and aims
to contribute to the formation and implementation of public
policies which promote citizenship and the well-being of
the people that live in the region.
Action is taken by means of a network of institutions that
co-operate in a non-competitive, horizontal way, thus taking
advantage of what each institution in the network has to
offer. This guarantees maximum efficiency in the use of
the CPP’s resources avoiding duplication and redundancy
and promoting co-operation.
